Camille's first Birthday!

What a blast! She had so much fun with all her cousins and family. For Camille's first birthday, we threw her a Halloween costume party. She was a ladybug, Ainsley was a modern witch. Frank and I at least wore our Halloween shirts. Frank made his homemade wings (yummy!).

I wanted to get her a black cake, but Frank wouldn't allow it. So, of course it had to be a ladybug cupcake cake. It was really cool. They didn't have cupcake cakes when Ainsley was little. Whoever invented those is smart and, I hope, rich. Her cake was a little white dog that reminded me of our dog, Snoopy.

She was wide-eyed and ran around and played the whole time and, even though her cousins stayed for awhile after the party broke up, Camille passed out in her crib, as usual at about 7:30. What fun!

Camille says "do-nut"!

This Tuesday, October 18th, 2010, Camille and I went into Circle K where I proceeded to get my morning drink of Dr. Pepper. While standing in front of the donut case, contemplating a cream stick with chocolate icing, Camille said, "DO-NUT" in her really high, cute voice, with no prompting from me whatsoever. Of course, this took me by so much surprise that I had to get my baby the donut. As we walked out, she said it again, not as clear as the last time. So, I thought maybe it wasn't a fluke and I texted everyone I knew and told the story 25 times that day, at least. Although that was two days ago and she hasn't said it again. We'll see what happens. She seems awfully chatty when she gets into her crib at naptime.

Camille takes her first steps!

Monday, October 18th, Camille decided that she wants to be mobile in an upright position. This is the story. I was holding a toy up and away from her as she was standing close to the couch. She then took two steps without holding onto anything, grabbed the toy, then fell on her tushy! I've found that I can trick her into walking on her own by giving her a toy while she's standing up and then when I beckon her over, she walks to me. So far, she's taken three steps on her own.

A side note: her cousin Nate, born January 23rd, 2010, also took his first steps the same day. He is a big boy! And he did not want to be left behind. Our babies are so much fun. Little stinkers will decide all on their own when they want to do something and not a minute before!
